Skytap on Azure Overview
At L3C we have deep expertise not only in AIX / OracleDB, IBM i and Linux but also the Kyndryl Cloud Uplift / Skytap on Azure cloud platform itself.
Skytap was acquired by Kyndryl in 2024 and renamed to Kyndryl Cloud Uplift. The Skytap / Kyndryl platform uses IBM Power 10 infrastructure in the majority of its data centres. This is not an emulator, this is real IBM Power servers deployed in selected Microsoft Data Centres worldwide with low latency ExpressRoute connectivity to Azure native infrastructure.
L3C Kyndryl Cloud Uplift / Skytap services provide an end to end service covering design, landing zone build, migration planning & execution, set up of backup and monitoring and optionally the provision of AIX, IBM i & Linux managed services. L3C design services include network design of your connectivity into Azure / Skytap and detailed planning down to subnet and IP addressing.
Kyndryl/Skytap provides the IBM Power infrastructure and consumption, while L3C provide the design, network, migration and managed service expertise.
Discovery & Design
We perform a short discovery phase & then create high level & low level designs for the Skytap environment including connectivity, LPAR sizing, landing zones, IP addressing plans etc.
Landing Zone Build
We build your landing zone(s) in Skytap for your connectivity, LPARs, High Availability/DR requirements, backup infrastructure & monitoring infrastructure.
Migration Plan & Execution
We create the detailed migration plan for the respective waves and execute the data transfer in the agreed migration windows.
Backup (and Air Gap) Implementation
We will implement & test your backup schedule (often using Commvault but not exclusively) as well as testing restore procedures. We implement second copies as well as Air Gap solutions.
Advanced Copilot enabled Monitoring
Our unique tooling integrates AIX, OracleDB, IBM i system alerts into Azure Monitor giving a single view of your whole estate. Copilot enabled to bring real AI insights & recommendations based on your system data.
Managed Services
After an agreed period of hypercare we can optionally manage your AIX, IBM i & Linux environment in Skytap on Azure. Cost effectively and 24/7.
